G5 turns off at grey apple logo screen

Well i have managed to get the g5 tower dual 2.5ghz to boot up to the grey screen with the apple logo then it shuts itself down.

Any ideas why it would be doing it and how to over come the problem?

Try booting to your install DVD. If it boots to install DVD successfully, try going to utilities/disk utility and repair you HD. If it fails to repair you may need a stronger utility like Disk Warrior. If Disk Warrior won't repair it your HD may be bad.
