GarageBand Trouble

I enjoy messing around in GarageBand but today when I opened it my loops didn't load. Now I can't find them anywhere. I did the the Software Restore but it did not fix the problem. I also tried moving the Apple Loops folder to the desktop, deleted all the files in the AL Index folder, and dropped the AL folder in GarageBand. It asked if I wanted to move the index to the library or keep it on the desktop, I said move to library. GB said "Importing Loops", it took a few minutes, but when it finished still nothing came up. Any suggestions?

Two quick things to try: Repair Permissions on your Disk (go to Disk Utilities) and then restart your machine. Sometimes these two things help tremendously.

You could also locate your GarageBand program preference file, copy it somewhere safe, and then delete the file so GarageBand then has to create a new one. Even on OS X preference files can sometimes get corrupted and cause problems. If this doesn't work, just replace the pref file with the one you saved.

Let us know if any of this helps! :)

Thanks for your help. I tried the prefence file thing, but it didn't seem to work. I'm not sure where to find to DiskUtilities, I did a search and nothing came up. Where can I find it?

In the Finder go to your Applications Folder and scroll down to Disk Utility (it looks like the instrument at the doctor's office) and double click. I don't have Mac OS X in front of me but it is fairly easy. Repair your permissions and it should not take that long.

If all else fails go to apple.com and click on support and search your problem.

Disk Utility is in the Utilities folder inside the Application folder.

I used DiskUtility to repair permissions but the loops still do not show up in the GarageBand Window. The apple site had nothing on this problem. I'm really at a loss here. Any more ideas?
