Hi,
I have (what I call) a real problem, I bought a Mac-G4 and booted it up to find that I had no password. The person I bought it from did not know it either, stated his son left it when he moved away.
Could someone PLEASE help me get around this? BTW I have no software to reinstall OS.

Don't post question-threads to the HOWTO-forum please. The HOWTO-forum is for answers. Guides.

You need the software to reinstall the OS. Ask the seller to give you the original installation disks. If that doesn't work ask Apple. They might ship you replacement disks for a fee.

If you need more information, please include more details about the computer. Are we talking about a PowerBook/iBook/PowerMac/iMac/eMac?

Thank!
It's a Power Mac running Mac OS X, don't know much more haven't had a chance to get in to find out. (Tiger)

My best advice is to buy a retail copy of Leopard and start from scratch with an erase & install. You'll need an install disk in the future anyway.

... That only works as long as it has at least 867 MHz and, I'd suggest, 1 GB of RAM. But find out the machine's model number. It starts with "M". M7891 or something like that. With that number, go ask Apple whether they can replace the original disks. It's important to closely identify the machine, because other machines' disks won't work.
