Good amp/audio solution for powermac?

Hi everyone,
I bought a cinema HD display a while back and now find myself using it for work and watching DVDs. My music collection is on the powermac and I don't bother with a stereo. I also play the piano/keyboard. Basically I'd like to know if it is possible to connect a home cinema system to my mac and HD display.I've been using a set of Sennheiser headphones for a while now as my existing speakers are old, cheap and don't provide enough punch. Ideally I'd like to use a separate DVD player and amp sitting underneath the HD display. There are lots of cheap, quality DVD players out there with advanced features. The setup would need to be suitable for audio from both DVDs and cd/keyboards etc. Is any of this possible?
Cheers.

Certainly using the amplifier is possible ... just run an audio output from your Mac to the Amp and you're set.

As for the DVD, you should be able to use the internal DVD drive in your Mac. External solutions are not as good because in order to use them you'd need to convert the signal to analog and then back to digital again, whereas with the internal player it will be digital all the way - thus meaning that the internal DVD will get better results even compared to a highend DVD player plugged in through an AV-Digital bridge.

Thanks for your reply Symphonix, I'll look into a good amp and speaker set, Eclipse make some really cool speakers.

Try and get an AMP with an optical digital input...especially if you have or plan to have a G5 PowerMac (S/PDIF audio in & out). The standard audio out will work fine, but why settle for that when you can do it digitally? <G>

HHGregg has a good deal on a Onkyo reciever, free shipping included.
