Well, I paid up for Okito Composer Pro before it was launched, but got this e-mail from them today:
I am writing today to tell you of some very exciting news regarding Okito Composer. Today we are announcing that Nisus Software has acquired Okito Software and will be integrating Okito Composer into their forthcoming Nisus Writer for Mac OS X. I will be joining their team to help in this effort to bring the award-winning word processor to Mac OS X along with many new innovations and great new features.
By combining our efforts, Nisus and Okito, we will be in a position to bring you a better product, with more of the features you want, and much sooner. Over the next few months we will be combining Okito Composer and Nisus Writer to create the new Nisus Writer X. We will bring you the features you have been requesting, such as footnotes and MS-Word support, along with the hallmark Nisus Writer features like a powerful, easy to use Find and Replace and multiple, editable clipboards.
This is indeed a very exciting time for word processing on Mac OS X. I believe that Nisus Software is well positioned to finally offer writers of all types a excellent alternative to the limited options we have had for so long.
As always, I want to thank all of you for the wonderful feedback and correspondence you have had with me for the last year. Okito Composer is what it is today because of what you have told me. Now that I am with Nisus, we do not want this relationship to end. As we make more information available in the coming months, please continue to tell us what you think. What you say to us really makes a difference!
If you want a taste of some of the long standing innovations we will be bringing to Mac OS X, you can check out the classic version of Nisus Writer at:
