I just realized something disturbing: I don't think I've Ever, in over a year, been able to shutdown OS X without being forced into a hard reboot (holding down the power button). I AM able to Reboot without incident (usually, I think), but when I try to Shutdown, I'm eventually left hanging, usually with the beachball spinning in the upper left corner over a blue screen.
When this happens, I always run fsck -y. As far as I can recall, repairs are always made. I took note of those repairs today, which seem to be the same as the previous times:
Orphaned indirect node temp (a few of these)
Catalog hierarchy: Invalid directory item count
Volume information: Invalid file count.
Any idea what's going on? I will also appreciate it if someone would define the above errors for me.
Thanks.
