Hi,

I have a iBook G4 brand new, connected to home wireless network. Each time I start the computer and try to connect to the internet I have to go through the network diagnostics to start the connection - then it works fine. What is happening??

Thanks

In System Preferences->network, check your settings, if the setting is to join, specific network, or on automatic?

Hi,

Thanks for replying.

I only get the choice of 'automatic' and 'preferred networks'. When preferred networks is selected it lists the networks it finds, which is only our home network here. It doesn't change anything, no matter whether I choose automatic or preferred networks.

Thanks,
Kylie

You could also try running airport assistant, creating another location, with the specific information. Other than that, as you stated, it may not make a big difference, but leaving your network on 'Automatic', in my experience is best.

I had the same issue on my Mac Book Pro first time I fixed the network connected then repaired permissions and was good until latest os 10 update had to swith to perferred network to make it find wirless each time I boot up.
