help--debugger failure

hey everyone:

when i use os x, every once and a while i get a debugger failure. this is when the screen suddely stops and some writing goes over the screen on the left hand side. is us white text surrounded in black. can someone help me fix this problem, it's driving me insane!

i've had that happen a couple times, mostly when i disconnect my firewire disk without unmounting. in my experience, it is not serioius (although i can imagine a case where it might be). however it should certainly not be happening very often. i'm sure someone here will have more technical knowledge on the subject...
