Hiya
I upgraded the other night from 10.2.5 to .8 but i think mail was actin funny before that anyhow, so don't think its down to mail or the upgrade could just be the server....
So anyhow.... yesterday morning and this morning i checked mail, it wouldnt connect to server, then later on today it connected to the server and downloaded mail, woo hoo success, BUT now it just repeatedly downloads the same 22 msg's, wont let me send mail either.....
Ive checked all the settings, checked the mail prefs are set to delete mail off server after download and it still aint workin....
My provider is eircom (irish isp) and the comp is my PB 550 runnin 10.2.8, has anyone else esperienced probs with mail after upgrading??
Has anyone else experienced probs with eircom over the past few days???

I have had problems with Mail when I set it up at an on-site job and then try to go home and use the Mail program. It can read but not send. Maybe you need to configure your Mail program with a firewall address so you can get through to your service provider? You might call them for more info on this, maybe a port number.

Just a shot in the dark.

I've set the firewall on my machine to be open to port 110, the one mail uses and which i presume the firewall had already been set to have open. And wouldn't think that this would be aproblem with the providers firewall as i am downloadin emails from them, so i must be gettin through, it would seem to me as if its more of a problem of mail not talkin to the server tellin it what needs doin ie 'delete x y and z email cause i just downloaded them' im not usin eircom (the isp in question) to dial in, since im in belfast out of eircoms jurisdiction, im usin NTL (broadband) but eircom allow international access for your mail, unless they have altered this for some reason but this is unlikely because they are usually very good about informing customers about changes to their sytems if they effect customers..... hmm..

Like I said, I have had problems accessing servers from outside their own intranet, and I think it's a result of the firewall. I can receive emails but not send them.

I have noticed that Mail has troubles with email, kind of ironic, eh?! :)
