help for newbie, file managers x11 etc...

I'm hoping one of you guru types will step up and help an obviously confused and forlorn newbie ibook user. (New to mac and osx completely)

My problem started when I saw the finder. I immediately wanted a replacement.
On my pc I used xtree for years and switched to ztreewin for win32.

Anyway, that started me on a search for an xtree like replacement for the finder which yielded unixtree, which apparently can run on my mac wirth some tweaks and compiling (using x11?)

I also looked around for 3d file managers and was pretty surprised to see that there are really none to speak of for native osx or x11?
I lookd at virtual finder and 3dosx, but both are pretty slow and useless even on this new machine.
I saw a really cool 3d file manager for irix systems that I loved.
(You've seen it on jurrasic park) wish I could run that on this machine.

Anyway, I was hoping someone could help me get a copy of unixtree running on this machine. I have x11 and the x11 sdk installed as well as a copy of darwine, not sure if I need any of that.
Additionally, I'd really like to find a good fast 3d type file management system like irix has in http://www.sgi.com/fun/freeware/3d_navigator.html
or another unix one here at:
http://fsv.sourceforge.net/

You can see the unixtree page at http://www.unixtree.org

Thanks in advance for any assistance.
