iMac G5 desktop
OSX-Tiger
Wireless and ethernet
Cable Modem
Router: Linksys Wireless Router befw11s4 v.2 with latest firmware.
I just bought a iMac G5 to work with my exisiting Computers running Windows XP. I have a wireless router setup for my cable modem. When the iMac is connected to Linksys Router "Wireless or via cat5 cable", I can see it obtain a IP address but it can not browse the Web. I was able to ping the router and also able to ping other local Computers, but I can not ping outside to the internet. I even tried manually add a static IP and DNS servers, still does not work.
I did another test, I connect my cable modem directly to the iMac, and bypass the Linksys Router. The iMac can browse the Internet no problem.
I called Linksys support and they said if your DHCP is enable and other WIndows XP can browse the Web, then you should have no problem. They also specify Linksys router do not gurrantee iMac to work with it, but it should all work anyway.
Can anyone help me? Thank you.
Andy
