Help: Narcolepsy on my 2.1 Ghz PPC G5

Ever since I downloaded a DVD Converter software a few months ago, my computer has developed narcolepsy, shutting itself down without prompting. I took the software off, but the problem has gotten increasingly worse. Maybe the timing is just coincidental, but it's impossible to get anything done at this point. Sometimes it gives me less than a minute before it just shuts down. Sometimes it completely shuts down.

I did search the forum to see other conversations on sleep and narcolepsy in the mac os x, but nothing seemed to quite match this issue.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like either overheating, weak PSU or failing processor. I'd check the inside of the machine for dust buildup and possibly reset the SMU and zap the PRAM to make sure its not a firmware glitch.
