HELP! no output devices found

I was with sounds problems using OS 10.2 and I decided to format my disk and make a clean install. After installing 10.2, my sound was working well. I upgraded to 10.2.1 and in the following restart when I tried to use iTunes, no sound at all. When I hit play not even the cursor moves; nothing happens. I opened the Sound control panel, and in the Outpu tab there's a message saying:
" no output devices were found"
I cannot figure out what's happening. My computer sound is OK; everything works fine when I restart using OS 9.2.2.
Any help will be appreciated.

Same just happened to me...after the latest security update.
so I downloaded the latest combo update from Apple...
installed it,
and my sound is back
