Help..NOT the typical question "How to transfer songs" iPod > MAC

Problem: Hard drive crash, re-installed OS X 4.9 Of course iTunes library is empty. iPod 60 Video with latest software, iTunes is latest build.

When transferring songs from iTunes to iPod, if the song had settings under the option tab (see list below), it would transfer into the iPod, I checked on Apple's web site articles to make sure they do.

Which software will transfer these same settings/options for each individual song, going from the iPod to iTunes?

1. Volume adjustment

2. Equalizer Preset

3 Start & Stop Times

Any help greatly appreciated.

No chance.

You _can_ copy your songs back, but the settings you can't currently save somehow. You'll have to copy the songs back to the harddrive, reimport them to iTunes and then synch with your iPod again (which'll overwrite all the settings on the iPod, I guess...).

For the future: You _need_ to backup your computer. At least the settings and stuff, but better: All your important files. Because: Stuff like this happens - or at least _can_ happen.

Is there a program that is best? The last time I looked I became overwhelmed with the choices.
 
Well, the choices are kinda overwhelming. I guess it depends on how you want to do it. If you have an external FW or USB-2 drive that can take the amount of data, I'd personally go with the free LaCie SilverKeeper and backup at least your entire home folder with it. Daily.
You can also use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone your entire drive. It sure takes a long while, but if you replace that carbon copy once a week, the worst that could happen is lose a week. Better than no backup at all. :)
 
Aloha fryke, thanks for the advice. I remember that you have written of SilverKeeper before, liking it very much. I ususally do back up all my data but not as often as I should. I'm thinking of attaching a externial drive and letting a software program manage the backup. Data as you suggest once a week and the entire drive, maybe every two weeks. Does the Lacie program work like that?

Regarding this iTunes problem, here's what I did a few hours ago:
I had copied the enitre iTunes folder out of my last (forever) Window's machine when I decided to buy MAC, DEC '06. I simply replaced the MAC's iTunes folder with the Windows folder and presto-chango, all songs & settings transfered perfectly! I still have it and it worked again.
FYI, I wrote 11 third party software vendors asking if thier program would transfer the 3 settings, 6 answered NO so far. I suspect a program has not been written to include these settings when going iPod>computer.
 
SilverKeeper is rather simple, but you can automate it like that, yes. Of course Leopard, Mac OS X 10.5, will bring its own backup option: TimeMachine. When that comes along, I plan on using it. But that's October-talk.
