My keyboard crapped out on me so I went out and got a Logitech USB keyboard. There is no EJECT key on the keyboard and I can not get a CD into my iMac. In the fider there is a menu item for EJECT but its grayed out until I get the CD in there. How can I open the CD tray???

Thank, Michael

try this trick - it'll put an eject button on your menubar:

Open the following folders:
/System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras/

in order to find and double click the:
Eject.menu

In order to remove it just hold Command(Apple)+mouse click and drag it out of the top menu

The F12 key might work, too.

Thanks! F12 worked. Now that I can put the Logitech CD in, I am able to program some of the extra buttons on the keyboard to open the superdrive.

Thanks for your help!

Anybody know a way to do this in OS 9? My sister's upgraded 7300 G3/400's CD-ROM drive doesn't open by clicking the button.
