Help! Starting Classic Error Message

I installed a new harddrive and transferred most of my data from a firwire external disk. Everything went fine except now when I try to start classic in 10.1.4 I get this error message (quoted exactly as it appears):

"You are running Classic without superuser(root) privileges. Ensure that TrubluEnvironment is setuid and owned by root, or reinstall your Mac OS X System Software."

Can anyone help me rectify this situation without having to reinstall? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hey,

The way to login as Root is as follows (assuming you have not set a root password):

1) Launch the NetInfo manager application (applications-> utilities).
2) Unlock the padlock icon in the lower left of the window and put in your admin name and password.
3) Select security from the Doman menu and Enable Root from the submenu.
4) After oking the warning message you'll have to put in a password for root.
5) Logout of your current user and login as root

I must warn you that being logged in as root can sometimes be dangerous if you don't know what you are doing. I take no responsibility for any damage you may do.

That said - I think it would be unwise to always be logged in as root. You may want to just reinstall anyway because that error is definetely not normal. I have never seen or heard of having to be logged in as root to startup classic.

Cheers,

Josh
