Help With Ftp, server, not sure?

Ok, I want to be able to store files on my computer, then access them from anywhere with internet access. Also, I would like anyone else to be able to access them as well. Kindof a rough server where my friends and I can post stuff. Doesn't need to be terribly secure. How can I do this. I tried going to sytem prefs, and giving ftp acces and and personal file sharing. But then I can only log in trhough ftp as my mac os x user name and pass. I just want to be able to easily let others and myself acces files in a certain folder on my comp. Help?

What you want to do is enable anonymous FTP access... though you should know that if you do anybody who blunders into your server will be able to get at your files, so give some thought to simply setting up an FTP account with a password you share amongst your friends.

Say I set up an account with a pass I share amung friends, they will be able to only access the user names folders right?

So i can amke a folder there: Misc Images and then any one with the user name and pass can see it? Is there any way to share contents of an external drive?
