Im not sure if im in the right forum or not so i apologise in advance if i am.

I have a huge problem .... i wanted to use a lens cleaner on my powerbook because it wasnt reading any dvds at all and just kept chucking them backout at me. Ive inserted the lens cleaner and ..... nothing :( its not mounted on the desktop, ive tried holding down option and restrting and holding down the mouse and restarting neither works! what can i do i need to get that disk out. This was my dads laptop before he died and i cant bear the thought that i may have broken it

please help if you can

What kind of powerbook is it, or what speed? Don't worry, the same thing happened to me with a slot loading iMac. There is a little hole around the cd drive that functions as a manual eject when pressed with a paperclip. Theres a lot of different powerbook designs, so we have to know the model to find where the hole would be.
 
Its a powerbook G4

im not all that savvy with computers my dad used to do all that for me. But on the about this mac it says its processor is 1GHz Power PC G4

Memory 1GB SDRAM

is that the right info that you need?
 
look on the underside of the laptop and find the numbers there those will tell use what Mac you have. Because like the other poster said there a lot of mac out there. now the CPU does help some what in makeing it ezer to find what powerbook you have. Just because I was to say that I have a 233 Mhz Power PC Powerbook G3 whould not tell anyone as to what type my powerbook is. Like I said we need the numbers on the underside of you mac.

I don't know how thats going to help though..
 
You might want to check with your local apple store, if there is one, and try to reserve a spot at the genius bar.
 
i think the nearest one is in london and god knows when ill get a chance to get there but ill just have to fit it in when i can. Although when i next go to bristol i know there is an apple repair place there. I suppose it just depends which one i can get to first

yeah i may give it a go tommorow :) have driven myself mad with it today so am going to just chill with the tv and a bottle of wine and think about it 2m :)
