i've just spilled coffee over my trusty pismo (not so anymore. kids: do not copy my stunt). anyway, everything seems ok but the moden/nettwork cirquit card. can anyone help me?

It is said that it is the sugar that wrecks the circuits. Are the usb ports working?

You may want to open the case - take off the keyboard and check inside - using alcohol - (the 91% not rubbing) to clean the board and the contacts. Might work.
