I'm 1/4 Basque you know?...
There's a thread @

MacOSX.com > Other > All Thoughts Non-Technical > Hello everybody, may I cus?

that has over 20'000 replies yet moderators whine about 'obscenities' in their threads.

What way do you want to play it? After seeing that thread I though that all you guys don't have a problem with all foul mouthed stuff as the post HASN'T BEEN REMOVED???? WHy didn't the

"Warning to you all" Post come at that threads infancy? Why does it take 20'000 replies later to invoke a response? If you don't want swearing make it clearER.

I just hope that those who condemn swearing don't own and firearms, because that will really pi??, um,....? annoy me.

There goes the humour!

Our policy (as I know it) is basically common sense. Remember that kids and civilized people are members here and speak with the proper respect for them. As for the cuss thread in the non-tech forum, that's really the only place you are allowed to let it all hang out. I really don't have a specific answer to your question though.

I think that possibly the admin and all the moderators should have a mandatory meeting in IRC to discuss board policy. Or, simpler yet, have a private forum setup for us to talk about this, and other issues.

I don't know, but it seems quite clear to me. The cus thread is a place where you can cus if you want. It was one of the first dozen threads in that section, and you get a pretty good idea of what it is about from the title. I don't cus and don't enjoy reading other people doing it, so I don't look at that thread. Easy.

Now when I check a new thread on a subject I am interested in and I see off color language in it, yes, there is a problem there. In the technical and social threads, you should act as though you have been brought up with proper manners... in the cus thread you can go to town with the best you have to offer.

I see no double standard, you have one, and only one, thread were you can blow off steam if you need to. Any time you find yourself typing something that is inappropriate, copy it to a post in the cus thread instead of posting it anywhere else on the site. Problem solved.

:D

I fail to see why you would possibly have a problem. Is it really worth getting upset over this?

The cus thread is a prody and it was one of the first ones here.
Cussing in general threads and acting leud is different from the cus thread. In public its in bad taste, while in the cus thread we can cus at one another and still be civilized. Heck take a look at scott, and me :p

It's clear to me and I've tried to make it clear (as have other moderators) to others. If you have a question about the policy, ASK IT! You posted in my "Please" thread after I had to clean up your vulgarity-run-rampant post in my forum. I answered your questions and concerns. I offerd that you or anyone else send me a personal message to discuss any problems. I got no takers so I assumed you and others understood the rationale behind the "policy" - such as it is. The reason you may see this as sshizophrenic in nature is that we really do not want to censor or limit discussion. But there are other things to consider - legal, being just plain civil, etc... I mentioned all this in my response to you. Seems you just want to make an issue out of nothing. You really need to relax man.

There is no hypocritical behaviour, there is no double standard. READ. You seem to be the only one that is having trouble understanding this.

Oh, and as a veteran of two conflicts, yes, I do own firearms. There's a little something we have in the U.S. us stupid Yanks call the Bill of Rights. I own several weapons. Rifles (military and civilian), my officer's sidearm, a trophy weapon (AK) they let me keep (after "modifying" it), a few collectors' pieces, a small glock for my wife and a couple other handguns. Why would this infuriate you further?
