it happens more when the hard drive is being accessed, especially written to. The heat gets so bad that the screen turns black in a gradient from bottom (black) to top (clear)! I thought that was a problem with my specific iPod and added it to my kaputt battery problem when I returned my iPod to Apple for repairs. Well, the replacement does it too, so I'm not worried about it anymore...
The iPod I got in the mail this July has a G-------- serial number, whereas the old one I got in March had a U-------- serial number, I wonder if the letter change means there was an internal hardware revision (like a stronger FireWire port
)? Out of curiosity, what's your guys's serial number letters, and when did you get your Pod? Maybe we can figure out if there was a hardware rev. since November
.
Also, Apple hasn't fixed a minor bug in the Settings menu that has been there since at least 1.1:
Go to the settings menu, and choose an option with a slider like contrast. Now turn off the iPod. When you turn it back on, try to adjust the slider - you can't! You can of course push menu to go back and Action to choose the option again and it will work, but still, even if it's an obscure bug I wonder why they haven't fixed it/how it cropped up?
