HOT iPod

Howdy
So on my way to school this morning I realized that, somehow, my iPod was outta juice. So I pluged it into a G4 running 9.1, using some random firewire cable, and let it charge for about an hour while i worked on stuff. When i decided to leave it was FREAKIN HOT! I mean way hotter than it has ever been before. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm sitting here at work charging it some more and it's not even close to the same heat range as before. It really worries me.

Sometimes iPods get REALLY hot. don't worry about it, just put it against your face and enjoy...

it happens more when the hard drive is being accessed, especially written to. The heat gets so bad that the screen turns black in a gradient from bottom (black) to top (clear)! I thought that was a problem with my specific iPod and added it to my kaputt battery problem when I returned my iPod to Apple for repairs. Well, the replacement does it too, so I'm not worried about it anymore...
The iPod I got in the mail this July has a G-------- serial number, whereas the old one I got in March had a U-------- serial number, I wonder if the letter change means there was an internal hardware revision (like a stronger FireWire port :))? Out of curiosity, what's your guys's serial number letters, and when did you get your Pod? Maybe we can figure out if there was a hardware rev. since November :D.

Also, Apple hasn't fixed a minor bug in the Settings menu that has been there since at least 1.1:
Go to the settings menu, and choose an option with a slider like contrast. Now turn off the iPod. When you turn it back on, try to adjust the slider - you can't! You can of course push menu to go back and Action to choose the option again and it will work, but still, even if it's an obscure bug I wonder why they haven't fixed it/how it cropped up?

I have a U------- number, it was ordered a month before christmas as a gift from my parents, it arrived early February

Mine's a U and was purchased in May. My screen also did that gradient thing and that scared me too. I blame it all on OS 9. ;)

Have you also noticed that in some paces (like contacts) the scrollbar appears, lightly, in the header information behind the battery? At least mine does. Weird
