How do I change the domain name of my "sites" folder?

I'm interested in starting a mac site, and I want to host it with my sites folder in OS X....is there any way that I can register a domain name and host it myself? I dont want people to have to type in a crapload of numbers just to see my site

yes

use no-ip services for free (www.no-ip.com) or register a domain with dns service so you can set your ip in order to point to your machine.
