Is there a way for me to go back to the os x prior to tiger? I do not have the original restore disk for my sons Imac G5, and I think Tiger is causing problems in some programs.......

There is no "going back" - you will need a Panther restore disk or a retail Panther install disk, and archive and install will most probably not work - i.e. you will not be able to do an archive and install of Panther 10.3 over a Tiger 10.4 install. An erase and install will be required, so if you do take such a drastic measure, be absolutely certain to back up any data, files, or programs you do not want to lose.

What problems are you having with Tiger? We may be able to help you resolve them.

well, right now i am really screwed because now i have NO OS at all. Disk is in the drive and cant be ejected. I hate macs.

Your last sentence isn't going to garner much help from those that DON'T hate them. You say you hate them because of your possible unfamiliarity with them. I can truly say that I hate Windows because I've used it for years and it's just a superior let-down for me (even after being a Mac user for years before that). But I digress.

If you need to eject the disc from the drive, restart the Mac and after you hear the startup chime hold down the mouse button. This will force eject the disc. A simple Google search would have also gotten you that answer probably faster than waiting for a response here, even though the folks here tend to be pretty quick to respond.

As far as reverting back to the original OS is concerned, contact someone at an Apple Store near you and explain the situation. They might be able to give you some replacement OEM system discs that shipped with that Mac.

BTW, consider yourself lucky that Mac users don't just tell you to RTFM.

Guys, cut him some slack. His Mac has just broke and after seeing all the stuff on in the Apple ads, it's not surprising he feels let down.

@ Viro and Burns,

Understood, but those that have come on here in the past as new Mac users asking for help don't revert to saying they hate the product they just purchased just because they're frustrated. This sounds like someone who was forced to have to do something on a Mac and cannot figure out what to do. In typical non-Mac user form, they spew the negativity that they do while those that prefer said platform are trying to help.

I'm sorry but that's hardly going to garner much sympathy from me and others, which is quite obvious from the lack of subsequent replies two weeks later before you and Viro replied. I could have easily not wasted my time and ignored it, but I took the time to give him what he wanted along with some advice. The original poster can take it or leave it.

Why is this in the games forum for 14 days? Or has it been moved there? Either way: System & Software, I'd say. (Moving...)

btw while we're here, what is MisterMe's problem, can we have an intervention or something?

everything he seems to say is inflammatory, arrogant and obnoxious, doesn't paint this 'help and support' site in a very nice way....
