How do I turn on old Macs?

I got a Performa 6290 and a Power Mac 5400 from some a school that was getting rid of them. However, they dont have power buttons anywhere on the case. The one keyboard that they had doesnt have a power button either. I tried hooking up a mac keyboard that does have one on it, but it doesnt turn them on. What am I suppoed to do?

The 5400 has a power switch on the back.
The 6290 may also, but not sure.

I noticed that theres a switch on the back of the 5400, but neither setting does anyhting. Its labeled l and O, and neither turns it on. Mabey its broken...

No. It has to be on "I" (that means "Yes" in binary...) ;) and _then_ the keyboard power button can turn the Mac on. Usually, you'd just leave the back power-button on and use the keyboard and system software to turn the Mac on and off.

Well, the 5400 didnt work at all. I could hear it make a noise when I plugged it in, but it wouldnt turn on. I tried another one, a 5200, and worked fine. I think the 5400 is broken or somehting. I have yet to find a switch on the 6290.

I got the 6290 running, but it seems to need a floppy disk with the OS on it. I can download a copy of 7.5, right? I am currently sifting through apple's massive site for a copy of it.

You're looking for OS 7.5.3 plus the 7.5.5 Update. You have to transform those images to floppy disks somehow.
