Hello,
I have a strange situation where certain specific keys: "L" , "\" , "." don't work on my powerbook G4 running Mac OS X 10.4
I just have a single account on this Mac and it's the administrator account - I have forgotten the password for this admin account and would like to reset it.
In order to do so I rebooted my Mac in the single user mode and ran:
mount -uw /
After this I was hoping to delete the .AppleSetupDone file under /var/db and do a reboot so that I could just have a new admin account. Alternatively, I think I could also reset the password with this:
dscl . -passwd /Users/username password, replacing username with the targeted user and password with the desired password
But since "L" , "\" , "." keys don't work I cannot execute any of the above 2 options so was thinking if there was a way to just mount a USB keyboard in single user mode?
The last option for resetting the password would be to use a Mac OS X OS CD i guess.
thanks in advance for your suggestions.
