How to edit M2TS file in Final Cut Pro 6

How to edit M2TS file in Final Cut Pro 6?

I have M2TS file from Sony Handly Cam to MacBook Pro, when import the file to Final Cut Pro, just show "unkonw the file".

According to a google search on another forum, this software was recommended to re-wrap m2t files into quicktime format-
