Hello,
im usually a PC user so therefore not accustomed to MACs. I just bought a copy of OS/X 10.2.4 and want to install it on a PowerMac G4.
Because of software incompatibilities and fear of losing sensitive data, I want to keep a HD running with OS 8.6.
Now here is my problem:
After removing my old HD and replacing it with a new clean one I inserted the DVD labeled "PowerBook G4 17 inch Software Install and Restore" - Version 10.2.4.
But the machine doesn't boot. Do MACs work differently than PCs while trying to boot? Do I need a preinstalled version of an OS from which I upgrade (I guess this is unlikely)? Or do I have to press a certain key while trying to boot?
I read something about incompatibilities between MACs and OS/X versions when they are not designed for each other ("PowerBook G4" OS and "PowerMac G4" machine). Is that true and could that be my problem?
As you see Im rather blank on this topic, so keep that in mind while answering
