How to network computers?

Hello,
Currently, this is my network:

Cable Modem -> Wireless Router -> 1 Mac + 1 PC + 2 Laptops.

Techincally, anyone getting access to my systems, can get access to all since they are all on the same level.

Whats another alternative I can use? IS there a way I can put the PC in the middle and route all traffic to and fro?

I think you're ok because you've got a router in between your lan and the internet. Any service you want to make available to the outside world would have to be explicitly set in your router's port mappings. Anyone please correct me if I'm wrong -- I'm sort of a novice when it comes to networking.
