How to reuse a CD Rom

Hi, I'm new to CR burning with our new iBook running 10.1.5. I put a couple of things I downloaded onto a CD for work, then thought of a couple of other things that would be useful, but I could no longer drag and drop the files onto the CD icon. I know that what happens is the old files are lost and you have to start from scratch.
The CDs are printed with CD-R. I know there are CD-RW as well. Is that the problem?

Hello,
I am having a similar problem, maybe the same. I can burn on a cd-rw but cannot add anything else to it unless I erase everything on it. Isnt this beating a whole purpose of cd-rw.

I have an iMac on which I am doing this. Please help.

TIA

If u use a CD-R or a CD-RW and u want to add files, u have not to close the cd, but u create many different sessions.

U can do it on both CD-R and CD-RW, but the difference is that CD-RW can be erased.
