[HOW TO] save time when typing in a URL in Safari/Firefox

who has time to type in "www" and ".com" anymore?

If you're using Safari, just type in the domain name, and the browser will do the rest.

For example, just type amazon in the URL box, and it will be converted to www.amazon.com.

Firefox takes this to a new level. Many phrases will take you to a specific place. for example macgyver takes you to the the biography of Richard Dean Anderson, and seinfeld to IMDB's info on the show. Cooking takes you to www.epicurious.com, macosx takes you to the official Apple website for Mac OS X, and searchengine takes you to Dogpile.

you get the idea.

I never knew this, but another way is by typing what you want in and holding the apple button and press enter.

Or if your on pc, ctrl + enter. :)

So in firefox, if you enter macosx, it doesn't take you to this site...
Yeah, because in Firefox it searches google for the first result if you just enter in a term with no http:// or www stuff. In safari, you go to this site.
