How to tell a Mac user in a sea of wintels

Hypernate

McGeek
I got Really bored in maths today. I came up with these. I did some of these this morning lol!

User will control click rahter than use right button.

User emits expletives as he/she/it maximises/restores the size of a window while trying to windowshade/minimise.

User will hold mouse at bottom of screen in vain, waiting for the dock to appear.

User will kick computer in the belief that it isn't starting up, due to lack of start-up sound.

User will drag floppy disk/CD icon to recycle bin, only to be confronted with an illegal operation error.

User will be heard saying, "What's this explorer error? I wasn't even on the internet!"

User will damage cables/keyboard by trying to plug a USB device into the side of the keyboard.

--Please add some more!--

sorry, there is only way to spot a mac user in a crowd of windows users - the smile on their face.:)

lol. Good one, Ed.

Other way to spot a Macuser:

User is enjoying the music eminating from his little white earbud headphones so much, he doesn't hear the others around him screaming explitives at their computers.

User will wonder why the computer has the most god-awful logo stuck to the front

User will wonder why the case is beige and not pearly white

User will wonder why this 2.2 GHz is slower than his Dual 800

User moves mouse over to left/right of screen expecting to see more screen real estate (okay... cinema display owners apply to this)

Here's a pretty obvious one:
User drags out a small white/white-grey computer from their briefcase/bag/backpack whatever :p
Turns lots of heads :)

user will notice and emit expletives when their computer crashes

user will attempt to do many pointless tasks and comment on how that task was much harder than it should be

user will go to apple, appleturns, macosx, iloveapple, macaddict, macworld, websites

the mac user will search for the command key for keyboard shortcuts and hit alt or the windows key.

the mac user will close a window then expect the application to still be open.

the windows user brushes of a crash whereas the mac user freaks out.

the mac user would use quicktime

and lastly the mac user will vomit all over windows xp.

Yep, i've been there.

Also, Mac users (who have one button mice anyway) hold a two button mouse with three fingers on the side and the pointer finger in front.

Re-arrange their icons on the desktop on the right side.

Boy do I ever do that one! In Linux too. It just isn't right - the app is more than the windows, dammit. It just is!

"User will control click rahter than use right button."

This is extremely familiar. Gets me totally frustrated, - and people look strange at me...
And I often do the same as you, scruffy; Close the window and expect the application to still be there.

:)

I guess that depends on if the Mac use has thier Mac or is sitting in front of a PeeCee...

A Mac user forced to use a PC looks strickingly like a convict. They are always scheming of a way to escape. They both look very nervous because they have guilty consciouses (sp?) and are sure that eveyone knows what they are plotting.

your point about being forced to use a pc is a good one. that would tend to wipe the silly smile off a mac user's face. But of course during that time, they would be a pc user so i stand by my original assumption:D

A Mac user plays chess, while a Windows user plays solitaire. (teehee)

By the end of the day, a Mac user will have gotten something done, while a Windows user will have just gotten started.

A Mac user will be totally peeved by windows inside windows, not to mention Windows. Teehee. (I believe they are called "rootless" windows? -- you know, like Hotline on Windows, where all the windows are contained in a larger window).

A Mac user has their home page set to http://www.apple.com/ , and will change it to that if using a PC.

Expanding on the arranging the icons on the right side of the desktop: A Mac user, when using a PC, will move the Windows task bar to the top.

What is the point of the Windows key anyway? I mean, you hit it and it brings up the taskbar or start menu or something stupid.

At least I can *gasp* control my applications with the command/apple key. It's not used to bring up the Apple menu.

I have noticed, a Windows USB keyboard, when hooked up to a Mac, will use the Windows key as the command/apple key. Haven't tried it the other way around, yet.
