How to use Apple Mail with an MS Outlook Server

Greetings, I will soon be getting a new G5 for my office. The issue is that most of my company is still on OS 9, using Microsoft Outlook. Instead of having to go into Classic Mode to check my mail (and waste system resources), I was wondering if it's possible to use Apple's mail program on with Outlook, and if so, how?

Thanks,

J

You can always check your mail with Mail, in fact it's a great program to use! I use it at my on-site contract graphic design job. Just get with your IT Manager (or gather up your mail system server's preferences/addresses) and set up Mail to read your mail from the server. And away you go!

Microsoft Outlook is just one way to query a mail server, and Mail does this quite well from OS X—so no more bouncing to Classic to check your email! :)

Ok you can use the mail application to send and receive emails as longs as your Exchange server allows IMAP services.

You can use groupcal from www.snerdware to subscribe and publish to your private and public calendars.

Or you could use MS Terminal Services if its available to to you the client is available from www.microsoft.com/mac.

The mail application will also see the public folders on the server as well.

Thanks for the replies. Will try doing this without the help of shareware. IT manager freaks out about that, and she's already pissed at me for ordering me the G5...hehe. Anyway, will let you know how it goes.

Thanks again,

J
