I'm working on setting up a new HDMI Mac Mini to work as a media center, without an additional display besides the HDTV its set up with. My intent is to administer the mini via screen sharing to my MacBook pro (or any other VNC enabled device).
This is mostly working, but with one major annoyance. With the current setup if I'm playing something to the TV I can't also log on via screen sharing to work on the machine as that will show up on the TV. If this were a Linux machine with multiple desktops I could set it up to output to the TV from one desktop and have VNC sharing another desktop, but I can't figure out how to do this with the built in MacOS screen sharing and Spaces.
Is there a way to configure the Mac's screen sharing to share a particular Spaces desktop via Spaces? I'm fine with manually mucking with config files or using 3rd party software, but this feels like something that should be possible with the built-in software.
(This would all be with the most recent public version of OS 10.6)
