So there's this handy built-in Firewall, right? And it's easy to turn on and configure:
System Preferences->Sharing->Firewall
You just click "Start", and select the services you'd like to enable. You can also add other oft-used ports by clicking the "New..." button to the right of the services window.
However, Apple neglected to include the port that Rendezvous chat operates on. The port is 5298, and it's nowhere to be found.
The result is that you can start a chat with another Rendezvous chat client, but no one can start with you -- and forget about sending files around with iChat.
To get around this, click the "New..." button next to the firewall services window, and in the pulldown menu select "Other". Then give the new service a label, like "Rendezvous chat", and enter the proper port: 5298.
