HP LaserJet 1160 printing garbage

I am trying to print to the LaserJet 1160 that is connected to an XP machine via USB.
My iMac (10.3.8) sees the printer but when I send a job to it, I get one page that has:
%!PS-Adobe-3.0
%RBINumCopies: 1
%%Pages: (atend)
%APL_DSC_Encoding: UTF8
%%Title: (U

Then I get several blank pages until I stop the printing via the printer.

I have tried using a created PPD for the 1160. That does not send anything to the printer. I have tried different model numbers (the 1160 is not shown under the list the HP list-1300 & Laser 6). I have used Printer Setup Repair to clear out the temp files and start fresh. I have tried using HP selector to find and set up, but it does not see the shared printer. I have recycled Windows Sharing on the iMac. I have saved a Text Edit document as a Word document and it still will print as above.

Unix printing is turned on as well as Printer sharing on the XP machine. The XP prints fine from it.

What do I need to be able to use the printer? Can I use the printer set up this way?

I solved it after two days of trying all kinds of combinations.

The end result is going to Printer info>Printer model and selecting HP Laserjet Series CUPS 1.1

No more garbage and blank pages. Prints out first time beautifully. :)
