I have an Officejet 5510 connected to my Win XP PC by USB. I can print from the PC, and from other PCs networked to it (using Windows smb printer sharing), so it is set up correctly on the PC side. I also unhooked my printer from the PC, and got it to print from my iBook G4 (OS 10.4.4) from a USB connection. But I really want to have my printer connected to the Windows PC and use the printer by Samba networking. But I can't print to it from my ibook running Tiger 10.4.4. I downloaded the HCIJS driver, which says it's compatible with OfficeJet 5510, but when I add the printer queue (successfully, using a smb://Guest
MSHOME/HOME/HP (HP is the share name on the PC), using the OfficeJet 5500 series foomatic/hpijs driver. When I go to print a document, it sends it, and I see the document in the printer queue on my PC. The Officejet has the Copy light blinking, and makes some noises like it's getting ready to print, and the LCD Panel says "Printing...." but then it doesn't do anything else. It just freezes, and I have to shut down the printer and Windows printer spooler to get rid of it. Any suggestions?
