I Broke It!!!

The otherday I went snowboarding and dropped my camera (not onto snow) a couple times. Now the bottom of the camera is kind-of hanging out. I've wanted a new camera really bad, but couldn't really afford it. Now I have no choice but to look into getting a new one.

So what I need to know is: what would be a REALLY good camera to get that's preferably less than $200? I'm also looking into anything higher than 2 MP. The baby I'm looking at right now is an upgrade of my older camera: HP Photosmart 635. Which comes in at $150!

Anyway, I really don't care right now what brand it is. As long as it's cheap, yet reliable, and comes with over 2 MP!

Sony has some good models. I am the owner of two Sony cameras. No complaints from me. :)

I have a friend with a Kodak 3mp Camera and he likes it, and another friend with that HP camera you mentioned and the quality is really nice..it's easy to use and it works pretty well, it's also a steal at that price. :)

Thanks for the replies! I'm going up to CompUSA tomorrow to check out what they have down there. Any last minute recommendations are welcome. :)

Rocoh digital cameras have it over Sony. I like Sony's designs, but Ricoh make the 'best' cameras. I dida lot of research or this, before i ended up buying film based SLR anyway

I'm a big fan of the Canon's... I have an older PowerShot G1, which was sort of high-end at the time. (both auto and manual settings.)

I just went skiing this weekend and brought it... unfortunately I accidentally bumped it into manual mode and screwed up all of the pictures...

But here are some of us snowmobiling.
(The "Pro" pictures were takend by their guy using a PowerShot G3.)

Well, I drove down to RC Willeys today and bought myself the long sought after HP Photosmart 635. I must say I'm really pleased with the results so far. But I'm too tired to really go in depth with how I feel. Maybe tomorrow I can go up to the canyon and get some good shots! :)

Thanks again for the replies everybody!

I've been playing with the camera non-stop. I'm pretty impressed with what it can do that my older camera could not. A feature I'm really surpised about that no websites mention is it's focus feature. You can set the exposure mode, and then lightly tap the button that usually takes pictures, and it will focus to your settings. Then push the button all the way down and it will take the picture. Light settings for night time shots are way cool also, since I bought the camera late in the day I got to test the night light out, it's pretty nice.

One of the shots I got late last night. I could never get stuff like that on my older camera.

I can't wait to try out the video feature a little bit more! I made some small clips and I really think it's great! You can record up to 60 seconds of video AND audio! It's just like a miniDV cam, only a little sloppy when it comes to quality. ;)

No complains thus far. With the exception of the fact that I had to reset the camera three times because it got confused while I was trying to take pictures of my cat. The cat would move in between flashes and so the camera would crash. :(

I love it though. :)
