i can´t hear it

First, I scavenged a mini-plug audio cable used to connect an old PC's audio card to its external speakers. I used this to connect the headphone jack of my cassette player to the audio input port on my mac os x

The next step was to tell the mac os x that the audio input is from the line in rather than the internal microphone. This is done in the Sound panel of the System Preferences in OS*X. You can adjust the gain on the input with a slider. It should be set somewhere in the middle.

Now you can play music on the cassette player and hear it play through on the computer's speakers. well,, I can´t hear it any way, I don´t know what´s wrong and i don´t know what can i do,, so please help me

thanks for all your interest.

To find out whether the signal is getting in OK, play some sound through your cassette player and on the Mac, open the Sound Prerences pane. Under "Input" you should see the input level indicator move with the sound.
If it isn't, then the sound probably isn't getting to the Mac for some reason. If it is, but you can't hear it, then there's most likely something in software that you've missed...
