I find it funny...

OS X Supreme Being
that shortly after Apple makes an example of some smaller Mac news sites that supposedly report on "rumors" - Graphicpower and MacFixIt - by denying them Press Passes to MWNY, all the major tech news outlets, and even non tech news like MSNBC have started reporting on the recent rumors of the 17" iMac and the MIA status of new PowerMacs at MWNY...

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like the mainstream press is thumbing their noses at Apple, and almost begging them to try and blacklist them.

David Coursey of ZDNet even offered to sneak some of the blacklisted reporters in to the press area himself...

Apple needs to learn the first lesson of publicity...

NEVER piss off a member of the press, whether they have 50 readers or 5 million....

Yeah, these rumors is what we(read: The Apple mass) live on and the press certainly have a good connection.
On the other hand, the secretive way of Apple(announcing that they work on something once they release it) is also holding us there...we love being fooled.

I noticed the same thing. Since when does CNET talk with such authority about what will be coming from the next Macworld? My guess, Apple is doing something funny here, in a good way. Telling everyone and their mom about a 17" flat panel iMac (great, do I get a free upgrade for my 533 mHZ G4 w/15" flat panel? Didn't think so), isn't the Apple way. It seems like maybe they are playing things down to drop a major bomb. I'm not talking G5's but some new digital lifestyle product like a remote contolled blender/pinapple slicer/digital camcorder, with Ariport. Okay, maybe the pinapple slicer is just wishful thinking, but I always have liked to "Think Different" even before Steve Jobs ordered me to.
