I got the HOOKUP with Apple!

drunkmac

has a mac beyond repair
Ok so long story made somewhat short. I work at a Banana Republic in a shopping complex where there is also a nice (and freshly built) apple store. Im always in there and happen to know who is who and who is the manager. Well the other day the manager comes running in frantically. He needed to be dressed head to toe very quickly. I suited him him up fully and he dropped $500 like it was nothing. He said he was actually going to the 2nd round of tryouts for THE APPRENTICE Season 2! He really needed help and I was doing everything I could for the guy...sooo.....when he was trying the stuff on, I said: "....You're gonna give me the hookup at the Apple Store right?" and his reply was "Oh hell yeah man". So sure enough, he purchased his goods and had a quick 2 minutes to talk about powerbooks etc. and how repairs are expensive...well...aside from that beeeeeyouuutifullll employee discount, Im getting a FREE Procare card for all that awesome in-store stuff. The one thing he said he couldnt hook me up with was the cool employee t-shirts they have. He said the company was beyonddd strict with those....so yes. I GOT THE HOOK-UP.

Could anyone tell me what this all means? What's the APPRENTICE? Is it just a normal apprentice written in large, friendly letters, some computer magazine or something altogether different? What's 'hookup' mean in this context? I feel like all the English I've used in my entire life is worth nothing when reading this thread...?!

The Apprentice ("you're fired")

Hookup:
Someone who can get you a deal, free stuff or connection

That dude from the corner hooked me with weed.
Yo i'm hungry hook me up with a BigMAC.
Dwayne's gonna hook me up with his sister.

:D

Okay... I knew I knew what hooking up was. I just didn't get the apprentice stuff, I guess. ;-) Now that I _do_ know, I remember I saw a trailer about that show... Okay. Not to worry. Just fryke without good access to USA TV stations. ;-)

Dude this is not an English lesson. If you wana comment on peoples english man here is a good forum http://www.englishforums.com/ .
However that is very cool about your friend. I would get married dressed in a elite apple store t-shirt.

Hahaha awesome commentry. YOU'RE FIRED THOUGH. If he gets the apprentice and wins.....who fills his spot @ the store?? ;)

Pippin, I didn't want to comment on drunkmac's english, if you mean that's what i meant... i just didn't understand it, so i asked... :) and now, of course: congrats, drunkmac! wish i had such a procare thingie. or rather, that i'd never need it...
