This must be some kind of test file Apple uses or something, and of course it's not REALLY this big... but here it is!

(It is 5.4 Exabytes!!!!!!! That is 5400 Petabytes!! 5,400,000 TB!!! Yes, over 5 trillion gigabytes! I rock!!!!!!)

what is this file, what is it for, and how can you see how big it really is???

slp is an acronym for "Service Location Protocol" (which is how the "Connect to Server" window finds servers), and ipc is an acronym for "Interprocess Communication", which is how processes in UNIX talk to each other.

This file is probably a FIFO for the processes that deal with Service Location Protocol. The terminal shows it's size as zero K.
