I have a problem(Yes, it's the screen...again)

The voice was stupid and put his monitor resolution to top quality...the monitor itself couldn't follow. This is an OS X-problem as OS 9 works fine. I need to get to my prefs through 9 or another computer, and I'm not too happy about 3rd-party software eighter.

To cut it short, I need to do one of the following:
A: Set resolution from OS 9
B: Copy a folder from my other computer, in wich case, wich folder would that be?

voice, you crazy Norsk you:D

so if people help you again will you promise not to screw with your moniter settings again?:p

(i'm no help here but you were slipping down the page without an answer so i thought i would bump you back up)

Well, I can't promise anything, but this is the first time it's not a hardware-problem, so it should be easier to fix...

1. start your computer without the monitor plugged into it.

2. go get a cup of coffee and wait for the boot up sequenc to COMPLETELY finish.

3. plug your monitor in. (it should be a 640x480 or 800x600 now)

4. set your monitor res to a DOABLE resolution. (make sure that the refresh rate isn't too high)

5. trash your windowserver pref file at Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist

6. log out and reboot.

everything should be fine now. this happened with me on a 733mhz quicksilver with a 19" LaCie monitor. it drove me crazy.

no prob! glad it worked for you.

apple needs to fix this... bug, er, feature i mean.

it is way to easy to set your display to a non-compatible refresh rate and drive yourself nuts trying to fix it.
