I have made an Hard drive adapter and it dosent work??

Hi,
I have made a hard drive adapter with a free com ex cd drive motherboard and plugged it in and its spinning and osx wont pick it up??
I have checked in about this mac and it displayed but in disk utility it had nothing ( well the computers internal hd)

Is the adapter an ATAPI adapter? Is the harddrive based on that standard as well? It could really be anything, I guess... From Freecom using a slightly different cable layout to a defective anything...

many things like this require device drivers to work. have you written or installed any?
