I Mistakenly Deleted Java Files, Help!

Hi! I'm using an iBook G4, 1.33 GHz Power PC G4, with 1.25 GB of Memory, purchased in early 2005, running Mac OS 10.5.5 Leopard. The
streaming chart tool, Java Charts, that my online broker, Options Xpress,
provides, crashes Safari and Firefox on my computer, so their tech support
recommended I download the latest Java Mac update and delete Java
temporary internet files, apps and applets, trace and log files, which I
unfortunately did. Now Java Charts works worse and still crashes the browsers and I have lost the use of Prophet Charts on the Investools Investor Toolbox site. I tried to fix the problem with Options Xpress tech
support by e-mailing them console and error logs, but they are absolutely
no help whatsoever. I tried reinstalling Leopard OS, but apparently the
Java files are still gone, so I still can't use Java Charts or Prophet Charts.
I'm using less than half of my system's memory and about half of the disk
space. The original system on this Mac is Panther, and I'm hoping I can
get back the deleted Java files without reinstalling Panther and Leopard.
 
What do you mean by "Java files"? From your description, it sounds as though you deleted files that were part of Java Charts. If that were the case, then you don't need to reinstall your OS. You need to reinstall Java Charts.

Thanks for your response. As Java Charts is not a program in my operating
system, but one that is provided by my online broker, I have no way of modifying it from my side, I can only modify the Java on my own computer
which is what I did. I note that in my utilities folder the Java file indicates
under the general tab of Java Preferences in both Java Application and Applet Runtime settings that the J2SE 5.0 version is in use, but in Java Web Start it indicates that the user cache is empty and the system cache is not configured.
There is a warning in the general tab of Java Preferences that only advanced
users should delete temporary internet files or change the settings for temporary internet files. That's all I can come up with at present. To update
on the issue of the problem with Prophet Charts, it seems that the issue was
a routing issue and it has been resolved by using a new wireless dns from
opendns.org. The problems with Java Charts are still there.
 
Just wondering if you found a solution. I have the same problem with the java charts at Opt. Exp, safari keeps crashing.
