First thing I would suggest is fix the code so it's at least somewhat compliant with a version of HTML. Right now it's not (even with the earliest forms of HTML) as you're missing the HEAD section completely. A doctype would also be a good idea. Check out the specs at http://www.w3.org for more info.

Other good sites for review are:

Being that you're new to the field, you might want to consider looking into Web Standards now. It's alot easier to learn and understand for a beginner than someone who's used to the 'old ways' of doing things. Most likely the designers who don't embrace standards will join the ranks of the video tape, cassette, and dodo bird very soon.

As for the color combinations, you best bet is to research the topic a bit (Google it) and then start to play around with different ones. Just like when you had to learn how to ride you bike as a kid...it took a few falls and cuts/scrapes/bruises before you got it right. Web design is no different than any other skill in life, practice makes perfect (or better at least).

Good luck!

I really like the site ecpescially the layout it sorta reminds me abit of the dell site but it looks great. The colour combinations in my opionion are abit old but if you are developing this site for a client ask for the colours that their company represents in there corperate identity and then go from that. Theres no point of having a website that doesnt reflect on the company - and like you said this is a fun type of company if you know what i meen. Maybe do abit of reasearch for colour ideas depending on the type of company eg. a modern furniture design company or something where i would reasearch is in archetictual and design books/magazines. Overall voice out your client for their opionions and try to grab some ideas from them to get the overall picture for the website.

Its a great looking site just probly fix up the colour combinations and fix up abit of the html code and your on your way. Great Site !

well, as a "first site" that blows away the first site i ever developed. It is not bad now for colors and such, but if you are not happy with the colors that is something that you might want to ask the clients about (if you are doing it for hire). If the tramp company has a line of flagship products you might want to use the color scheme from that line of products.

One thing i learned the hard way is to always design your site with expansion in mind, even if you do not think that you are going to be developing that section further. It may take longer in the setup initially but you will be so much happier when it ends up saving you hours on end of altering to allow for it after the fact.
