I switched back to 9 for now.

I had a work weekend at home, that required me to switch back to 9 so I could get the most out of my apps. Well, that was 3 weeks ago, and I have enjoyed the familarity and speed of OS9. What can I say? It just feels quicker, and leaner...not to mention my apps (Thousands of $$ worth) are all OS9 anyway.

I'll be checking back when I hear about the release of 10.3, but for now, I guess 10.2 was a waste of a c-note for me. :(

Then again, I'd always rather know and be sad, than not know and be happy. ;)

My Mac has the same specs as yours. Hence, I know what you mean when you write about speed in OS9 :)

I do spend 50% of my time on OS9 too. Unreal Tournament, Adobe applications and Quark XPress are OS9 applications, on my Mac at least. Photoshop's true power reveals in OS9, where you can perform incredible tricks on extremely big files in a lightning. OSX always slow down this type of actions, dunno why.

Anyway, OS9 is not dead everywhere, it seems ;)
However, you'll soon realize you're an X addict like I am: you need this GUI, those incredible applications, this overall simplicity. I reboot my Mac twice a day, just to switch systems :)

Yeah, this is probably just a hiatus, until I get fired up about some kind of development project. :)

I 'switched' just as OSX came out and compared to windows it was brill, but I've just bought my girlfriend a 2nd hand Powerbook with OS9 on it and in showing her how to use Freehand/Photoshop I've come to the conclusion that X doesn't stand up quite as well to 9.

Maybe we just need a simplfied Aqua or even an OS9 compatability mode (not talking about Classic!) more like 9's finder/switcher but on X's Darwin roots?
