iBook 500 A/V problem

My ibook 500 Dual USB has a problem with its A/V port. NO matter what I aa doing, or what TV I use the image alwys appears a little wavy. This is especially annoying while watching movies. I have also tried it with several differnent cables. The problem persists...

My A/V port works great with the cable from Apple for playing games and such on my TV. My problem comes when I try to mirror DVD's from my iBook to a TV screen, the image is blackened and goes all over the place, then is clear for a minute, then gets blackened and warped again for another 5 minutes. The sound is staticy and messed up.
 
Chances are, you are trying to play your DVD's through a VCR. If so, apple has built in copy protection that would prevent this from happening. If this is the only way you can connect to a tv, or even if you are connected to a TV, then I suggest that you try out one of several "patches" made avilible. Don't know where ive found it, but on that works in OS 9 is FairUse®... Works great... Doesn't Help my problem though...

There is no way for the computer to tell if you are putting it through a VCR or directly to a TV via the A/V cable, so that makes little sense...not to mention I've tried hookin up up directly to a TV to no avail...
 
Actually the copy-protect is a mechanism built into most VCRs, and the iBook uses a signal that will 'trip' this mechanism but is invisible when plugged straight into a TV. If I plug into my Panasonic VCR, the DVD image flicks bright and soft slowly, but normal output is okay. On my el-cheapo VCR, it works fine.
So, yes, you have to plug straight into the TV, not the VCR.
 
If you try and run a DVD thru a VCR you need to go to raido shack and get a converter box. The box allows you to go thru the VCR or from AV to a regualr cable jack with no wavy lines or picture pulsating.
