iBook 700 LOUD fan & very hot

just wanted to know if anyone else out there is as plagued with iBook problems as i am... I am on my 3rd new iBook this year.. the first had dead pixels.. the second a very tight almost to the point of breaking off hinge- and now this newest -a 700mhz- in sharp contrast to the silent operation of the other two- has a VERY loud clunky sounding fan that turns on even when running for an hour with the procesor speed reduced via the energy control sys pref panel. Apple said it indeed sounded loud and took it in for repair and it was returned to me all banged up with tons of scratches and dark oily finger marks- and best of all- the Super loud/forceful fan is still in full effect...
so i called them back and complained of the condition it was returned to me in and that the fan was still a problem- and without even really taking a second to think the tech person shot back "send it back and we'll have the logic board replaced" just seems a bit hap-hazard to me-
what's going on?

My new 700 Mhz. iBook does the same thing. I figured it was standard, but it is quite loud. I'm not sure if it's worth complaining about... let me know what happens with yours.

hey matt,
i do believe it is worth complaining about- i mean- this being my 3rd iBook and having the previous two be absolutly silent and then this one is super loud- i mean- is that progress in terms of design? i think not!
i did just get mine back from repair and so far so good! I loved the fact that on my 600mhz ibook i could be working for 6hours straight doing all kinds of processor intensive audio/video work and it never made a peep. I urge anyone who owns one of these noisy 700mhz models to call apple - they WILL fix it. They were quick too- i sent it out on monday and recieved it back on thursday morning.

Alright, thanks for the advice. I do believe I'll have this taken care of as soon as I can afford to be without my computer for a while.

Matt
