On my otherwise well-behaved G3 iBook (12"), I'm now getting an X through the battery icon in the menu bar.
When the iBook is asleep, the power cord end glows orange. But when it's awake, the end glows green.
The battery's indicator lights are all four lit up, suggesting it's fully charged. Interestingly, they don't seem to go out. Even when I remove the battery.
I have tried:
repairing permissions
fsck
resetting PMU
Disk Warrior
eraser-ing the iBook's battery contacts (can't get at the contacts on the battery itself)
Battery contacts look normal. I NEVER remove/replace the battery, as I have only one. Until now, it's performed adequately in terms of lifetime, charging, etc.
Think it's the battery, or is the iBook screwed up?
