iBook burner problem after update

My G3 800MHz iBook used to be able to burn/erase CD-RWs just fine, but ever since I updated to 10.2.4, it always gives me "MEDIUM ERROR"s. I've even updated to 10.2.6 and it still doesn't work! It won't even burn CD-Rs anymore. It'll erase CD-RWs just fine, but all hell breaks loose when I try to burn something.

I've already tried Roxio's Toast Titanium 5.2.1 and have the same problem. My iBook's warranty just expired, so I'm really hoping it isn't the hardware...

Is anyone else having this problem? Oh yeah, I've also tried cdrecord from Fink, but same issues there. (An yes, I tried using a brand, spankin' new CD-RW. Same problem.)

Thanks!

You hAve tried band new CD-RW... but what brand? It could be that you have a bad bunch of blank cd's.

When you updated --- did you check for firmeware updates? I know that there was a superdrive firmware update for certain models... Go to Apple'w Web site - check out firmware. There was an alert about the CD/bruner drives.
